Mr. Martin Swinton Harper, 80, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in the South Georgia Medical Center, Valdosta.
Mr. Harper was born April 17, 1938, in Clinch County to the late Edward and Ethel Howard Harper. He was retired from the U. S. Army and from the Georgia State Prison System.
Survivors are his wife, Clara D. Harper, Homerville: two sons: Halix Harper, Charlotte, NC and Eric Harper, Sacramento, CA; one step-daughter and son-in-law: Lori & Guy Mathis, Adel; one step-son and daughter-in-law: Greg & Rhonda Smith, Tifton; one sister: Laretta Dickerson, Homerville; two brothers and sisters-in-law: John & Janice Harper, Homerville and Harry & Mae Harper, Hazelhurst, GA; three grandchildren: Jake Smith, Gabe Mathis and Amelia Mathis; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Harper were held Friday, May 18, 2018 at three o'clock from the Homerville First Baptist Church.
Interment was in the Pine Forest Cemetery.
The family received friends from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church.
