Valdosta, Georgia - Mike Bass, 63, of Valdosta, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. He was born on August 27, 1963, to Gary L. Bass, Sr., and the late Betty Bass Thackrey. A lifelong resident of Valdosta, Mr. Bass graduated from VSU and UGA and was a law partner with the firm of Closson, Bass, and Tomberlin for 30+ years. Mike believed in freedom and the American Justice System.
Mike also found time to enjoy music, travel and was a big Atlanta Falcons fan.
Mr. Bass is survived by his father, Gary L. Bass, Sr.; brothers, Gary L. Bass, Jr. (Martha) of Marietta, GA and Gregory Mark Bass (Michele) of Cumming, GA; niece, Jennifer Bass; nephews, Justin Bass and Jacob Bass; and great nephew, Isaac Lowry. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Bass Thackery, and his companion Sue Swanson.
No services are planned for Mr. Bass at this time.
