Valdosta, Georgia - Patricia Ann "Patsy" Moore of Valdosta, died suddenly, but peacefully, at her home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Born in Jacksonville, FL to Jack and Maureen Anderson, she grew up in Macon and Thomasville. She graduated from Thomasville High School and then went to Valdosta State University to achieve her Bachelor of Science in Education. After graduation from VSU, Patsy began her teaching career in Cobb County before returning to Valdosta to teach a few years at St. John the Evangelist Catholic School. She then taught at Lowndes Middle School for more than 20 years until her retirement in 2003. Throughout the years, Patsy continued to pursue her education to eventually achieve a Master of Arts in History and an Educational Specialist Degree, both from VSU. Patsy and her husband Kent greatly enjoyed traveling, having visited Europe several times over the years. They especially gained fulfillment going with their church, First Baptist Church of Valdosta, on mission trips to several countries around the world including Thailand, Venezuela, Israel, Paraguay, and Bolivia. At First Baptist Church, Patsy taught youth and first grade Sunday School class for more than 30 years, sang in the choir for more than 40 years, and played handbells. Patsy was often reserved, always generous, laughed a lot, had an infectious smile, and was an example of still waters running deep.
Patsy is survived by her husband of 34 years, Dr. Kent Moore of Valdosta; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Phil Hopkins of Ontario, CA, Beth and Willard Adams of Valdosta, Treva Hoover of Chattanooga, TN and a son and daughter- in-law, Kevin and Erica Moore of Marietta; her sister Deborah Chastain of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Maura Adams of Valdosta, Sam Hopkins of Ontario, CA ,and Raina (Jack) Williams of Woodstock. Also surviving are two nieces and a nephew, Shelley McLeod, Keri Chastain and Kelly Chastain. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, Marty Chastain; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Moore; and her son-in-law, Eddie Hoover.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, February 15, from 4 until 6 pm at Carson McLane Funeral Home. The funeral for Patsy will be held at 11 am Monday, February 16 at First Baptist Church. Pastors Mac Weaver and Chuck Owens will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
