Meridianville, AL - Roy Eugene Lawson, age 74, of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on February 13, 2026 in Huntsville, Alabama. Born May 10, 1951, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the son of Howard Irvin Lawson, who survives him, and the late Irma Jean Knight (Rogers).

​Roy has graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He also has proudly served his country for 27 years in the United States Army, retiring from active duty in 2001 with the rank of Captain after a distinguished career as an Aviator (Pilot). ​He was also a member of the Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville and attended the Morven Baptist Church in his youth.

Roy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Yong (Oh) Lawson; his 6 children: Cory Shelton Lawson (& Eliana), Roy Eugene Lawson II (& Yumi), Quinton Travis Lawson (& Diane), Mary Kay (Lawson) Powers (& Tom), John Ko (& Valerie), and Cha Won Ko (& Karen); his 12 grandchildren: Amelia Lawson, RJ Lawson, Eric Lawson, Ethan Lawson, Toby Lawson, Noah Ko, Joshua Ko, Hannah Ko, Ezra Ko, Layla Hughes, Rose Miller, and Alessandra Ko; and his great-grandchildren: Otto Hughs, Maylee Hughs, and another expected in July 2026.

Roy is also survived by his loving siblings: Roger Lawson (& Virginia), Sharon Williams (& Rob), Susan McMinn (& Ed), Alan Russell (& Sharona), Steve Lawson, Irvin Lawson (& Barbara), and Jackie McLeod; and his extended family: Thomas Sims (& Missy); Elaine Southall (& Jamie); Ginger Marshall (& Dale); Ann Reagan (& Terry); and Kevin Oh (& Karen).
