Thomas H. Parr, 96, of Nashville, died Sunday, March 9, 2025, in the Langdale Hospice House.
He was born October 7, 1928, in Berrien County to the late William T. Parr and the late Velma Griner Parr. He was a retired clerk with the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service, was a member and deacon emeritus of the Nashville First Baptist Church and served in the United States Army. He was very involved with the City Nashville, serving as mayor for 12 years, served on the Nashville Fire Department for 24 years and served as Chief for 8 of those years. He was a lifetime member of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs, lifetime member of the Georgia Municipal Association, member of the Georgia Fireman's Association, member and past master of Duncan Lodge #234 and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Marie Phillips, Ruth Cook, Gladys Cameron and Stella Griner; 2 brothers: Saron Parr and J.W. Parr.
He is survived by his wife: Elnita Corbitt Parr of Nashville; daughter: Sandy (Larry) Burkett of Valdosta; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday March 12, 2025, at 2 PM in the Chapel of Lovein Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Luke and Rev. Paul Keffer officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
